I have a new job! This is a real job for a real company.  Shocked

Don't get all excited, I'll still be getting my opinion into these threads. Tongue

Developing software for a small company. Our product helps manage call centers. It is voice over IP technology so all calls are routed over data networks.

I worked at an L.L. Bean call center a couple of years ago, hated it.

I can imagine. With our software you can arbitrarily listen in on an agent without them knowing. You can whisper instructions or pop up a screen with info. We time everything the agent does and keep track of all calls.

I now listen very carefully when going through the various call trees I encounter. Smiley

I knew when I was being monitored. I have to say some of the callers were fun while the drunk ones were a pain in the ass. The dumb ones, the ones that didn't even have their catalog in front of them should have been eliminated from the gene pool.

Call center software, please oh please program it so option One is to speak to a live human being, so tired of hitting half dozen or more buttons for that option.

I want to program it so I can type in a special code and get the CEO first ring! However I can't. Sad We write the software and our customers customize it. The "press 1 for this, 2 for that" menus are designed by our customers. We route the calls based on what was pressed. Our thing is we do it over the Internet and own the equipment. Our customers can have their agents anywhere, in boiler rooms in foreign countries or in agent's homes. It saves them big on IT costs and Network costs. Actually I think it is pretty cool.

I still get pissed when I am put through a long maze though!

I still get pissed when I am put through a long maze though!

Cry  Speaking of long maze's; absolutely the most confusing, time consuming, and nerve
racking vox menu I have yet to encounter, has to be the dept. of the Navy's disbursing section,
when I called to ask for a paper copy of my 1199.  I still suffer bouts of anxiety, have a partial
bald spot on my scalp, and my left eye will twitch whenever I hear "Press 1 for....?"

And that only took place in mid January of this year!
