It seems like more and more kids today aren't getting enough exercise. When I was young, there was no Internet or computers or video games. And cartoons were only on Saturday mornings and for a couple hours in the afternoons. We would always go outside and play all afternoon until dinner time. We'd eat a healthy meal and head back out and play until dark. It doesn't seem like many kids go out and play anymore or as much as kids like me did back in the days.
Holy Toledo! Vega, your post gave me chicken skin!

How true... Fond memories of my Schwinn (sp?) bike. It had fat balloon tires, with white walls!
I was one of those kids that had a rear rack? and a basket.. A horn, light, and reflectors on the
spokes, and a fat cushioned seat... Circa 1950?
I thought nothing of riding my bike 15 miles to the beach on Sat morning.
If the weather was bad, I would tour the tide pools, move kelp, looking for washed ashore treasure...
I would walk a couple of miles up the beach, and back down the beach...
Other times, I would ride my bike into the city (San Diego) and spend an entire day in the huge
Army-Navy surplus center. My gawd... The smell of canvas, salt, oils and greases, and the
pallets piled high with old helmets, canteens, gas masks, mess kits, packs, tents, shovels,
knives, bayonets.... OMG...

What a great time... and, it was free, too!
These days, having a two story home is my only exercise. My 5 grandsons refuse to walk to the
mail box... They don't play kickball, and tether ball, at recess...Their schools have cut athletic
programs for lack of funds. Their only exercise is typing on grandpa's keyboard...and walking
up and down our stairs...
Oh? Yeah, it's 2010 already!
