There is something I want offered on Ebay. I have only done BIN items so I do not have any experience bidding. So, let's say the item is at $85 but there is a hidden bid of $100. If I were to bid $125, do I have to pay that amount or do I pay the next increment? That is what I am understanding how it goes right now. I want and need the item, if I were to bid $152, would that be a safer bid?

If you go 'nuclear' on a bid you will win the item at the next increment higher then the other bidder you beat. You will not pay the full amount of your bid. It is best to place bids like that at the last moment before the auction ends. You don't want the under bidder re-thinking their bid - they might decide to come back and bid more.

There are sniping programs out there that will bid for you. They often will give out a few free snipes so you can try out their service. Your bid won't be placed if it is already losing.

So, when I receive the item how does one leave feedback?

It's too soon for any FB decision.  Wait until you receive it.  Depending on the
time involved delivering the win to you, the way it was packaged, and the sellers
use of your shipping & handling fees, plus, of course, how impressed you are with
the item....  Once all that is digested, you can work up an appropriate feedback
score....

Well he upgraded the shipping to "Priority" and it is just $3, shipped the same day as I paid within the hour from winning. This was a front sight for my target rifle and I needed it as the one I am using is incorrect. The auction began at $.99 and went to $97.59. Looking at some of his past auctions this is all he deals in, obsolete sights.

He deserves extra consideration then, if he upgraded to Priority Mail for your $3.00.  Priority mail
is at least $4.50, I believe.  Wow... a front sight is THAT expensive?  Whew.. I'm glad I never shot
with enough seriousness, where I would actually use iron sights. Well, in ROTC, when we fired the
old Springfield 1903 rifles, I got to be pretty good with stock front and rear sights...Prone, and
using the orig slings... Jeez... A long time ago... When we got good with the '03's, they then issued
us Garands..  Super... M1 thumb?  Yeah, couple times...    I did best with my M79... Hehehehe... Wink

Memories are good for us old farts....  Kiss

At 15 years old I was on the club team using the '03's. By the end of the day my shoulder was hamburger. I liked being in the pits at 200 yards.
Rear sights could have gone to $175 easily. Without the front sight the rifle is pretty much useless. I was really prepared to spend the $180 and would have been quite disappointed if I had missed it by a few bucks.

Oh boy!  Yeah, jeez.. I had forgotten THAT!  We were issued shooting jackets, having the padded
shoulders and elbows, but....   I can't, myself, feel your satisfaction over winning the sights, but I
am glad for you...  I wish you good shooting with them!
